Detailed Lighting Schedule [pdf: 16KB] (18-Jan-08)
14-Feb-08 Dear Light Crew and friends, Just a friendly reminder that two of our biggest lighting nights are coming up this weekend. "Island" light crew must attend both sessions. For "Dark Stage", having one or two adults is always a big help, and Odyssey Lighting Club is welcome too. "Dark Stage" - Friday, Feb 15, 5pm - 9pm We will be hanging up the last 10 lekos (mostly 1st electric), gelling all lights, final positioning and focus, patching and rough programming of the consoles, building some "show movements" into the automated lights. I call it dark stage because the final focus and rough programming require us to turn out the house lights and start building some scenes and looks. Since there's a fair amount of physical work, I welcome some adults and volunteers beyond the "Island" light crew. "Cue-to-Cue" - Saturday, Feb 16, 5pm - 11pm (5pm - 9pm for spotlights) This is where we truly program each and every cue in the show. Not a lot of work for friends and volunteers - we really just require "Island" light crew. Part of the cast and crew will be there. Mrs. Davidson and I will move from cue to cue, we will then set the lights, and Adam H and Adam W will program everything into the consoles. It's a slow process, but essential. We will also mark most spotlight cues and identify where the automation needs to flash and move that Adam W will continue to program during tech week. Console programmers need to be prepared to stay until 11pm. As with all lighting sessions, please eat something ahead of time, and bring any food/snacks you might want during the sessions. If parents need to reach me during the sessions, my cell phone is: 314-5057. This is the big push, and by Sunday we should have a lit stage. Let the fun continue!!!
Best regards, 1-Jan-08 First off, please let me wish you a happy new year, and welcome to the light crew for "Once on this Island". We are going to have a big lighting show this year, with lots of equipment, challenging programming, and lots of color. We have a thunderstorm (or two), several dance numbers with very significant lighting cues and automation sweeps, light-up headgear and staffs for the gods, working lanterns, moving clouds on the backdrop, and no doubt some thinks we haven't thought of yet. As with past years, email will be our primary communications method prior to load-in week in February. So initially, I want to verify that this email distribution list is working, and that you are all checking your email. Phones don't work since I tend to think about lighting late at night. I also encourage you to have me copy your parents on these emails too. Keeping your parents updated with your schedule is important. Please send me a parent email if you want. Please respond to this email with a simple "got your note" or similar so I know who's actively checking email. Thanks, Art Whitfield
